The Alford has a bus service

 In News & Happenings

Alford Arms is now served by an on-demand bus service…

Think Uber meets the local 322 bus service and you’ll have an idea of the fabulous new bus service that serves Berkhamsted, Hemel, and most of the surrounding villages – bringing you to our very door.

The HertsLynx Dacorum service links the towns in the Dacorum area with the surrounding villages and costs just £2 a journey with concession fares available. The service operates until 7pm on a weekday and 4pm on weekends and Bank Holidays. Just like a regular taxi service, you can book the bus via an app, online or by phone.

You can make a booking for ‘pick-up’ within the hour or up to 30 days in advance so you can plan your walk to the Alford and your ride home when you make your table booking.

The details of how to book are:

The buses are all modern, air-conditioned Mercedes Benz minibues with seatbelts fitted for all seats. They have Wifi, USB phone chargers and are accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs. We think it is a great idea and we have loved starting to see guests arrive and/or depart in them!

We all know that our little lane was built for more genteel traffic than what we all drive today, so anything we can do to reduce the plight of the verges and the surrounding Ashridge Estate should be welcomed. And, of course, it would mean the villagers of Frithsden and those using the lanes on horse or bicycle will have a less challenging time as well.
