Our Drinks
Beer is the backbone of any pub. And we run at least three real ales at all times including brews from the award-winning Chiltern and Tring Breweries, both just down the road.
Just like our food, we like to keep our wines close. That means a European selection that cuts down the wine miles and covers all the bases. Old World wines have everything we need and plenty to offer, often at great value. Our list is a little bit like the Alford – off the beaten track – but if you have a sense of adventure and you love great wine, ask for a taster and enjoy the journey.
We’re no cocktail lounge (well, not really) but we’ll make you the Bloodiest Mary or the quintessential G&T (with loads of gins to choose from) – or any of the classic combinations you’d expect from a top-notch bar. General Manager James, our resident bourbon man, has a thing for this versatile spirit, so you’ll find some of the more exotic brands lining the shelves.
And if your persuasion is of the low or No variety then we’re really very good at that too. Especially our spirits selection, which include classy little numbers from Seedlip, Pentire and Bax Botanics.

Wine is a big subject, but it’s no fun when you play safe!
There are some intense flavours to be had on our cellar wine list. Invariably from our Gallic neighbour across the channel, these top wines come at great value prices, showing off the best of Bordeaux and beyond.
As for the main list, there’s real variety from across Europe with something for everyone, including a comprehensive Stickies list. Our team will be happy to help you with your wine journey, from starter to pud and from Lebanon to Nottinghamshire!
…And if wine is not your tipple, or be it mid-walk, at the end of a cycle ride, or as you head off into the sunset, we are a proud partner of the REFILL project – where we will be delighted to replenish your flask or bottle with chilled tap water with no fuss or embarrassment necessary, just a smile.
