It’s very easy to shout about yourself from the rooftops, but it’s not our kind of thing. Fortunately, there are customers who are happy to do it for us…. so a big thanks to all our supporters! To see what folk say, just click on the logos below to read the full review.

We were properly blown away in June ’23 when we were bestowed the Best Destination Pub in Herts and Beds by Muddy Stilettos.

We are pretty chuffed to have just been awarded the Hertfordshire Dining Pub of the Year for the 12th time for 2021 from the GOOD PUB GUIDE.

Another award we are very proud of was the pub restaurant gong at the inaugural FREEFROM EATING OUT Awards way back in 2014. Plus we can’t ignore the great users of RESTAURANT GURU who have given us their ‘blessing’ for great food and also our wonderful outdoor seating!

Safe to say, your ongoing support has helped us to this recognition and we will continue to work tirelessly to deserve your affection.

“We were there for the Sunday roast beef and it was not only delicious but unbelievable value…the plate was dwarfed by a towering, crispy Yorkshire Pudding, the gravy was plentiful, the red cabbage tasty and the potatoes crispy. A buzzy atmosphere with very professional staff. “

“We came across this gem totally by chance. My wife and I walked in without a booking to find an above average wine list and menu changes with seasonal main courses. Lovely atmosphere with a mix of families, couples, friends on a day out. We’ll definitely be back.”

"According to one reader, the Alford Arms sets the ’gold standard’ for pubby excellence in this neck of the Chilterns."
“A perfect pit stop on a ramble around Ashridge, you’ll feel as at home here in your muddy walking boots as you will dressed up for dinner. Expect a warm welcome, friendly banter, and the odd pooch snuggled up by the bar."
“An attractive Victorian pub beside the village green. The menu follows the seasons and offers a broad array of dishes, so alongside British classics you’ll find dishes with more global leanings such as imam bayildi."
“Creative food with an emphasis on local suppliers and a changing menu that includes bubble and squeak with oak-smoked bacon, poached egg and hollandaise sauce, local goats cheese with roast beetroot, tomato panzanella salad with chargrilled courgette and king prawn linguine with smoked bacon."
“This “genuine country pub”, surprisingly close to London in a beautiful Chilterns village, wins consistently solid ratings for its “good food, indoors and outside”, and “excellent local Tring Brewery beer.”
